Picture frames with original photographs.
Variable dimensions

Since 2010, Raul Valverde collects picture frames from local stores. They are displayed with the original images that comes with the frames—smiling mothers, lovely couples, and multicultural parties—showing how these iconic images respond to canonized ideologies of beauty, family, love and leisure. For the exhibition “Confort” (2018), organized in a hotel room in New York, Valverde’s proposal shifted the semi-public and impersonal condition of the hotel with a standardized representation of life.
